Canoeing
Indian canoes (two person) with paddles and life jackets
are supplied free of charge for guests staying at the Vlei,
Forest and River Lodges.
Braais, picnics, swimming and fishing on the river bank
Buffalo Valley Bush Lodges guests have access to a private
recreation area on the grassy river bank. Two braai areas, picnic
tables, firewood and canoes are provided.
Walks, nature trails and hikes
There are two walking trails on Buffalo Valley's 150 hectare
reserve. Buffalo Valley pays for its guests to enjoy hikes on
the neighbouring 2500 ha Goukamma Nature and Marine Reserve
free of charge.
Beaches and whale watching
Buffels Bay with an informal restaurant and shop is just
3 km away. During spring and summer Southern right whales are
often visible off Buffels Bay beach.
Knysna
The scenic town of Knysna with restaurants, shopping centres,
art galleries and craft outlets is just 17km away. Top attractions
include ferry trips on the Knysna lagoon, steam train rides,
and walks and cycles in the indigenous forests. Sample oysters
farmed in the Knysna lagoon (also sold in a take-home box) and
locally brewed beer.
